Atmosphere

Granite City is modern with a “homey” feeling to it. The colors chosen, I believe, to remind the patron of sitting next to a stone fireplace. Overall, the atmosphere is lovely, however the large room with not many barriers can get loud if you are dinning at a high traffic time or day.

Service

Our service was excellent! Dinning out on a Saturday night can usually cause some frustration, however since we arrived a bit after the normal “dinner rush” we were seated immediately and our waiter joined us promptly. I also enjoyed that not only did the waiter oblige my dining companions request for no pickles (even on the plate) but actively agreed with his request.

Food

According to a source, Granite City introduced a new menu recently, so we chose to give it a shot. It was a great choice! From the pretzel stick appetizers to the Shandy with my meal, I enjoyed it all. The pretzel stick appetizers are the perfect blend of a crunchy exterior and a warm, soft interior. Dipped in the bock sauce, typically found on their mac n cheese, you find a marriage of flavors that work perfectly.

For an entrée I chose the shrimp tacos, a favorite dish of mine, if prepared properly. The shrimp was cooked well and not too greasy. The shrimp, when paired with the slightly spicy sauce, was a hit!

Overview

Overall I am a fan of Granite City! I would recommend this restaurant to both beer lovers and their counterparts. The service is above and beyond, and the food will leave you full and satisfied.
